The Centre has put in new safeguards following a number of cases of Aadhaar data leaks on government websites. All ministries are being asked to encrypt all Aadhaar data and personal financial details. Also, officials are being "sensitised" about legal consequences of data breach. And every government department is to now have one official responsible for Aadhaar data protection.

"WannaCry is far and away the most severe malware attack so far in 2017, and the spread of this troubling ransomware is far from over". Since the global attack was launched on Friday, several thousand more computers were discovered to be infected, particularly in Asia as the work day began on Monday.
