Two two-day long edit-a-thons were organised in St. Aloysius College and St. Agnes College, both in Mangalore, during March 10-11 and March 12-13 respectively. The edit-a-thons were aimed at creating and enhancing Wikipedia articles related to medicinal plants.

It is always a challenge to find much information about the medicinal plants grown locally, especially in Indian languages and on the Internet. The Kannada Wikipedia also does not have many quality articles in this topic. The Kannada Wikimedia community felt the need for documenting more about the medicinal plants and their use when they gathered for the Kannada Wikipedia’s 13th anniversary. So right after the anniversary a two day edit-a-thon was organised in St. Aloysius College Mangalore during March 10-11, and another one at St. Agnes College Mangalore during March 12-13. This event being a follow up of an earlier edit-a-thon, had 17 participants who already edited Wikipedia and there were three new editors. They, together, created 66 articles during the event.  Three active Wikimedians participated in the event and helped in mentoring the new editors. 20 images were uploaded by these participants on Wikimedia Commons and they all had contributed 1412612 bytes of data.
