Centre for Internet & Society

CIS is excited to announce a rolling call for interns. We welcome applications from students and professionals from diverse disciplines and backgrounds.

In light of public health risks and responses, this internship program will be run remotely. Unlike our usual internship program, this need not be a full time commitment, but will likely require a minimum weekly commitment of 15-20 hours per week. This is flexible, however, and will be decided to the convenience of the intern and the prospective supervisor.

Applications are strongly encouraged from individuals belonging to historically marginalised communities, including caste-oppressed communities, women, LGBTQIA+ people, and people with a disability/disabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Interns may be expected to work on a range of tasks, from undertaking literature reviews, to editing or proof-reading documents, and writing or co-writing pieces of their choice. The exact nature of work will be decided on a case-by-case basis, will depend on specific project requirements, and will be co-determined in consultation with supervisors.

All internships will be remunerated. Remuneration for internships undertaken as a part of this call will be pro-rated to the stipends for our full-time internship program.

Under the full-time internship program, interns receive a performance-linked stipend of up to INR 15,000 per month. For long-term full-time interns (i.e. internships for 3 months or more), interns receive a performance-linked stipend of up to INR 20,000 per month.

However, we will be able to make payments only to bank accounts in India.

Application procedure

Please send in your application or any queries to [email protected].  We aim to revert within 7 working days of receiving your application. Unless asked for by a prospective supervisor, there will be no interview, and applicants will be judged on the basis of their submitted application materials.

Your application should include:

  1. An updated CV

  2. Two writing samples, between 1000-3000 words each

  3. A covering letter or email, not more than 300-350 words, describing your preference for a specific research sub/thematic and proposed time commitment. Sub/thematics at CIS soliciting applications for this call are listed below.
