Annual Report (2009-2010) — by Prasad Krishna — last modified Nov 03, 2011 12:13 PM: This is the second Annual Report of the Centre for Internet and Society, Bangalore. It covers all activities undertaken by CIS from 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2010. During this period CIS entered into a collaboration with the Institute of Network Cultures, Amsterdam to produce a Reader, Critical Point of View on the Wikipedia. CIS in partnership with Hivos published a report, Digital Natives with a Cause?, initiated some new projects under the Histories of the Internet. These included Revolution 2.0, Gaming and Gold and Queer Histories of the Internet, organised the Right to Read campaign in the four metro cities of India, prepared the India Country Report for the IP Watch List and organised the Maps for Making Change workshops in Delhi and Ahmedabad.

The Lab

The MetaCulture Media Lab envisions to create an open and alternative space for creative inquiry in the techno-social arena. The space offers a conducive environment for hands-on learning through experimentation with open and interactive technologies to enhance human experience in networked cultures. Our doors are open to anyone eager to engage in innovative exploration and meet like-minded individuals. The space is shared by a multidisciplinary representation ranging from NGO members, social scientists, artists, designers, technology hobbyists, start-ups, members of the industry, and other community members.

Besides providing an open participatory space, we regularly feature exhibitions, workshops, presentations, film screening and other events that are of interest to a wider community of technology and digital humanity enthusiasts, in a collaborative spirit of “learn, teach and share”.
